Having lived outside of Cork for a while. it had been a while since we had the pleasure of visiting Café Paradiso. Last Sat we made it for a late dinner and all we can say is ‘WOW’. Café Paradiso is one of the finest restaurants in the world in any genre. The food is innovative, aromatic and gorgeous. The staff, friendly and efficient and the atmosphere relaxed, inclusive and sophisticated. If vegetarian food can taste this good and a top class restaurant can be as accessible as this then eating as we know it has effectively been reinvented.
Have always had lovely meals here. Looking forward to getting Denis’s new cookbook! Might be eating here again Sat night if Conor can find me!!! michelleusa01@hotmail.com
I am one of the two Dennis’ mentioned in response # 167. I agree with Michael Cotter, what a wonderful evening and the food was outstanding in quantity, taste and presentation.
After months of re-creating meals from ‘For the love of food’ my wife and I finally made the journey to Cafe Paradiso. We descended into gastro bliss. All aspects of our evening went above and beyond our expectations. We will be back, and soon.
We were recommended to the cafe by a docent at St. Fin Barre’s when we were visiting on 22 September this year. A Saturday. Place was packed, even at 3pm. Food was so wonderful I wanted to LICK THE PLATE (but didn’t want to, you know, contribute to the Ugly American myth). :) Now I’m kicking myself for not purchasing a cookbook while I had the chance. We were in Ireland for 3 weeks and this was one of our most memorable meals.
2 American visitors, (both named Denis Cotter) and I had the pleasure of a meal in your restaurant a few weeks ago and the food was simply delicious, the attention was first class, and overall the whole experience was amazing. I hope to repeat the experience each time I go to Cork in future. As Iwrite, my wife is making the “Lucy’s breakfast sausages” from your recipe book!
My sisters and I had a beautiful meal with you on Sat. night last. The flavours were amazing! the service was attentive but not overpowering – an overall great visit. With our aperitif we had a really tasty snack – a seed cracker – which the waitress told me how to make but after a glass (or 2) of wine I’ve forgotten. Any chance you could share it?? Thanks!
I’m sorry that I didn’t get to post this message sooner, but better late than never! Myself and my better half were at Cafe P in springtime where we stayed one of the evenings and then following a sumptious dinner and splendid breakfast, we headed to Gort Na Nain for another evening and morning of feasting. Both highly enjoyable experiences with beautiful imaginative food and lovely chats with the folk who fed and watered us! Really recommend it and if you can manage, stretch it to staying at both locations for marvellous hospitality. Thanks guys, hope we’ll get back to you soon!
Last Wednesday night I ate the most sumptuous, tantalising taste treat I have ever experienced, which will remain with me forever. Thank you, Paradiso for affirming after 18 years of vegetarianism that mind blowing recipes are available in restaurants. Forever a fan; I’ll be calling by every time I’m in your neighbourhood.

Sunday 09 June, 2013We dined and stayed at Cafe Paradiso on Friday June 7th. It had been on our “to-do” list for quite some time. Our experience surpassed our expectations. The lion’s mane mushroom main course was yummy – amazing sauce! It’s a “must-do” when in Cork. We eagerly await another opportunity to pamper ourselves at Cafe Paradiso.
